Buddy Program
During events, groups, and regular programming.
This program serves individuals with exceptionalities in the highest inclusion setting. A volunteer is partnered as a “teammate” and assists VIP students in the typical classroom setting. This is determined and set up through an “as needed” process. This program allows our VIP students to bond with their peers and find success in all areas whether that be in our weekend POWER Kids classrooms, mid-week Life Groups, or Collective young adult ministry.
Respite Night
A night out. Every other month.
This is an event we host once every other month for families that have children with exceptionalities as well as their siblings. We spend an evening having lots of fun by playing games, eating pizza, and providing parents with a few hours to take the night off, relax, and have a true time of respite. Our volunteers are passionate about spreading God’s love and welcoming individuals of all abilities for a night filled with lots of joy and fun.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you customize individual needs?
Our team offers unique opportunities to allow each VIP student to find success at Grace. We create adapted curriculum for our VIP Sunday classes based on needs and abilities. Our Buddy Program pairs students one-on-one with a trained volunteer that allows each student to participate and be successful in their peer-aged groups opportunities.
What if my child is nonverbal (nonspeaking) or struggles with behavioral challenges?
We ask that every family fills out a one-time intake registration form to share any important information about a child’s needs, challenges, and tools that can best assist with each need. We take time to work with each family in order to find the best environment for their child to be successful at Grace, whether in our Buddy Program, Sunday Classroom, or weekday opportunities!
Are background checks conducted on staff and volunteers?
Yes, every staff person and volunteer must go through our CAPP training program which requires a background check. This ensures that every person who helps with VIP is a safe, trustworthy, and well-trained individual who can provide the love and support needed to serve each student.
Is there a nurse or medical professional on site?
Our team consists of individuals who are passionate, dedicated, and excited about supporting your child in any way possible. While we do not have a medical professional on site, we have volunteers with a wide range of knowledge who are willing to assist the best they can with individual needs.
